To create a mobile experience that enables users to easily record their dreams, discover recurring themes, and gain insights to better understand patterns and boost creativity.
CONTEXT
As a designer deeply passionate about creativity and self-expression, I’ve always been drawn to the intriguing world of dreams. During my search for a project topic, I discovered that many renowned artists like Salvador Dali, Paul McCartney, and Mary Shelly found inspiration in their vivid dreams, which ignited my curiosity. I realized that, like many others, I often struggled to remember my dreams, leading to missed opportunities for exploration and creativity. Recognizing the significance of capturing these fleeting moments, I was thrilled to explore the potential of a dream journalling app.

This was my first self-driven UX project, and I approached it with the intent to apply my design thinking skills while learning user experience fundamentals to embrace an innovative approach to problem-solving

Dreams are windows into the unconscious, revealing hidden desires through symbols and facilitating creative expression. They serve as wish fulfillment, bypassing the ego's defenses, allowing unrestricted thoughts and emotions that enhance self-awareness and inspire creativity.

Survey
A quantitative survey was conducted to explore behaviors, motivations, preferences, and challenges related to dream journaling. It comprised two sections: the first assessed general attitudes toward journaling, while the second targeted individuals who maintain a dream journal.

An App Dedicated to CREATIVES!
Research and anecdotal evidence indicate that dream journaling plays a vital role in the imaginative processes of creatives. Engaging the subconscious provides a unique outlet for expression and inspiration, fostering personal and professional growth. Based on these insights, User personas were developed to represent potential users.

I learned the power of taking inspiration from familiar interactions to build intuitive systems. By drawing on patterns users already know, I could create designs that felt natural and easy to navigate, proving that innovation doesn’t always mean reinventing the wheel, it’s about thoughtful adaptation.
